THIS WEEK

Image: The first page of the forensic report on Laura’s death issued by the government of Dubai.

This website is not about me, it’s about Laura, but my life since her death, reluctantly becomes part of her story. Every week I’ll add something to this page.

Another message from Scott under the video I created for Laura.

“Thanks for the additional info; it’s useful to know that Dubai harbors international criminals as well. Back to Laura, if only the police and the building staff had not lied and had treated you humanely, there would be no justice to seek, only grief, but they had to compound the loss by treating a grieving mother as a pest, and forcing you to go to Dubai just to get basic answers, and still wondering about whether the Blackberry card was stolen. It’s unconscionable. And your story implies that you handled this alone, without other family or friends who cared about Laura. Just thinking of you being alone in this quest to find out what happened to your child in a foreign land made me so sad and upset, so I just wanted you to feel not alone. Frankly, I was even more moved by your story. Laura was so troubled and not thinking so much of those she left behind when she chose to fall off the building, but in her right mind, she would be so comforted knowing how much of your life you have devoted to her memory. We should all be so lucky to have someone care about us so much. Your love for your daughter is beautiful, but I do hope that the grief doesn’t overwhelm you, and that you are living your life and seeking happiness as well. You deserve it. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has read this story, who feels empathy and care for you, the beautiful soul who has gone to so much trouble to keep her daughter’s memory alive, and to shine a light on the circumstances of her tragic death.”

In Dubai committing suicide is a crime and an attempted suicide is punished either by incarceration for no more than six months, or a fine, or both. How barbaric is that?

My answer to Scott:

Thank you Scott. It is indeed a country of no conscience or morals. Money is what they worship. Amongst the people granted residence in Dubai are the Guptas. South Africa has requested that they be extradited to face serious charges in this country and yet Dubai won’t give them up. Members of one of the most vicious Irish gangs, the Kinahan cartel, live freely in Dubai, Daniel Kinahan, his father, Christopher, and younger brother, Christopher Jr. And there are many many more. With the bit of research that I have done, a lot if not all top businessmen in Dubai have been employed by the government of Dubai at some stage prior to embarking on lucrative careers in business. I hope you don’t mind me sharing your comments on Laura’s website and her Facebook page. It is nice to know that total strangers care about Laura and would like to see justice for her. Thank you once again.

Scott sent me another message and my reply under the video I created for Laura upon my return from Dubai in March 2015.

From Scott: Yes, in persevering to get answers about your daughter’s death, you have also done a public service by shining a light on the corruption of the Dubai government, a government of lies. If they lie about something so benign as what building your daughter fell from, I can just imagine what else they lie about. I never want to go there, where the government is the enemy of truth, justice, and individual rights.

My reply: Thank you Scott. It is indeed a country of no conscience or morals. Money is what they worship. Amongst the people granted residence in Dubai are the Guptas. South Africa has requested that they be extradited to face serious charges in this country and yet Dubai won’t give them up. With the bit of research that I have done, a lot if not all of the top businessmen in Dubai have been employed by the government of Dubai at some stage prior to embarking on very lucrative careers in business. I hope you don’t mind me sharing your comments on Laura’s website and her Facebook page. It is nice to know that total strangers care about Laura and would like to see justice for her. Thank you once again.

26 April 2025

Comment on 26 April 2025 under the uTube video I made for Laura, ‘Laura Vanessa Nunes – Burj Khalifa’s best kept secret.”

“My heartfelt condolences for your loss, Leona, and for the terrible experience you had getting answers from the building staff and police. I was just looking at the Wikipedia page for the Burj Khalifa, saw the mention of your daughter’s death, and then found your website. I had a natural curiosity, and you answered the questions that any of us would have. You write beautifully, and I was very moved, even sharing your loss a bit. I’m even tearing up now. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. I don’t know what else to say, but that I send a virtual hug, and I hope that you feel less alone knowing that your story and tribute to your daughter has touched others and caused them to share just a bit of your grief. Warmly, Scott.”

Thank you Scott for finding Laura’s story, and your message of support for me. I continue to try to keep her story alive, sometimes even blogging, and though the government of Dubai continues to lie about the location of her death, the lie continues to be exposed as such, with their own government having furnished me with the irrefutable truth. The forensic report issued by their government.

26 April 2025

It has been more than ten years since Laura died. Every day she looks at me from the photograph on my desk…

6 March 2025. More than a week has passed. I need to become more organised, to keep Laura’s story alive. There was one new comment under the second video I created for Laura, encouragement for me to keep going.

14 February 2025. Happy Valentine’s Day Laura.

6 February 2025. Laura dedicated this song to me in 2013.
