Image: A photograph Laura took on her way back to Dubai from Qatar, and her words which I found in what she left behind
The first page of the medical forensic report issued by the Government of Dubai.

The video I hurriedly put together earlier this year. It will be replaced next year.
On 16 November 2014 Laura Vanessa Nunes died by suicide, falling from the At the Top Sky observation deck on the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa, Dubai. Her suicide was concealed by the Dubai government until 18 May 2015 when MailOnline released an article by Rob Davies exposing her death from the tallest building in the world. It was instantly denied by the Dubai Police, their denials carried in the UAE media, including in a news video by GDN, denying that she died from the Burj Khalifa, saying instead that she had fallen to her death from her 14th floor apartment at the Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
Two blatant lies. The location of her death, and where she had been staying at the time of her death. Despite my requests Dubai Police would never tell me where Laura had been staying in and only once I received her handbag was I able to find clues which the police themselves had followed, and then left behind; two empty white envelopes and a gold bill, the invoices removed, and a check-out ticket for 16 November 2014. Laura had been staying in Room 309 at the Abidos Hotel Apartments Dubailand. Included in this video are snippets of emails exchanged between the management of the hotel and me. There are some photographs of her in room 309, photographs that have GPS data attached to them. There’s a photograph of my room, 909, when I visited Dubai in March 2015.
I also received the medical forensic report stating that Laura’s body had been found on the 3rd floor of the Burj Khalifa, issued by the Government of Dubai, about 26 kilometres away from the Jumeirah Lakes Towers where Laura was supposedly staying in her 14th-floor apartment.
From 18 May 2015 until 16 November 2017, for three years after Laura’s death, I was effectively called a liar by the Government of Dubai, but on the third anniversary of her death, 9 News published an article by investigative journalist, Mark Saunokonoko. It included confirmation of Laura’s death from the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa by Luis Camara, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi. When asked by journalist Mark Saunokonoko in terms of the Freedom of Information Act, Portugal, he confirmed that the information was given to him by the Dubai Police when he asked where it had happened. Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties declined to comment, as did the general manager of the Armani Hotel. On the Burj Khalifa Wikipedia page the Dubai Police disputed the Daily Mail report claiming that Laura fell from her 14th floor apartment at the Jumeirah Lakes Towers. Mark Saunokonoko added the confirmation from Luis Camara that Laura had fallen to her death from the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa.
I would like to thank three amazing journalists for exposing the coverup of Laura’s death. Firstly a big thanks to Will Jordan who at the time was with Al Jazeera, Qatar, and who introduced me to Rob Davies, the investigative journalist who wrote the article for MailOnline. I can’t thank you enough. And to Mark Saunokonoko, who found me on Laura’s Facebook page and gave me final closure on Laura’s death with his article for Nine News. I am so thankful to you. You are three wonderful, caring journalists and I have been very fortunate to work with you. Now, ten years and seven months after Laura’s death I seek justice for her. Leona Sykes, Laura’s mother.
