Love and kindness…

Some wise words:

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

– Albert Einstein

But alas this is not the reality. The year has barely started and the horrors continue. Refugees fleeing their countries.

“Some are fleeing conflict or persecution, while many of the hundreds of thousands of migrants who have been rescued at sea in recent years are fleeing poverty and thus are denied asylum by European Union countries.

Italy and fellow EU nation Malta have often refused docking permission to the humanitarian rescue boats, contending that most migrants want to reach jobs or relatives in Northern Europe’.

Imagine no countries…maybe if there were no borders and no governments, it would solve the problem…

More killing in the name of religion. “Gunmen have opened fire on a group of minority Hazara Shia Muslim coal miners after abducting them, killing 11 in the southwestern Balochistan province, a Pakistani official has said.”

Imagine no religion…division, hatred…

Ethnic violence…

Maybe the virus will put an end to all of these manmade disasters…when more and more people succumb with their lives. When will we learn the most important lesson that every single creature including man, deserves life.

From Seneca:

“The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.”

Stop the greed and the lust for power. Let’s be content with what we have and treat each other with love and kindness. Let’s make 2021 a better year for all of us.
